Recreations of the Great Robert Frank

The photographer I chose for this assignment is Robert Frank, who is best known for his critique on American society. He is well-known for his book called "The Americans". I chose his photos because it really showed me a portal to the days of old. It was very raw and Frank often took photos of those who many would just disregard in everyday life. His images provide an interesting perspective onto society.

 

War in the Pacific

 After the capture of Saipan in July of 1944, the Japanese civilians that were manipulated by the Japanese military that if captured by the American troops, they would be killed and abused. Many resorted to jumping off of this cliff just to evade the troops. Hence the name, Suicide Cliff.
